Oddly, I just answered a similar question from another poster. If you drink diet Coke and then eat a Mentos, you will not have a reaction in your stomach. However, when I researched this a little, I did find out that if you put diet coke and several mentos in your mouth at the same time that the reaction will be similar to when you put mentos into a 2 liter of diet coke. The excessive fizziness will likely spurt out your mouth and nose. It is not an explosion really, but a physical reaction that will cause some discomfort and a big mess. I personally have eaten a Mento, then drank diet Coke and have never experienced even the slightest reaction, not even a burp. I am a big diet Coke drinker and my dad always has Mentos to share. We were quite surprised when we heard about the "supposed" danger of mixing Mentos and diet Coke since we'd done it numerous times. My daughter did the adding Mentos to a 2 liter of diet coke experiment with her students and it was pretty impressive to see. They loved it.

Well...i dont think it would explode. Just get really foamy - cuz that's what happens when you put the mentos in a bottle of diet coke. A group of us actually just tried that last weekend...looked just like old faithful.

It won't cause it to explode per se, but would cause it to foam up rather quickly and shoot out of your mouth just as it does in the bottle. The reason the diet coke shoots so high is that the shape of the bottle compresses the flow to increase the pressure which shoots it up further.
