I have a lot of friends from Europe who speak multiple languages.

I often ask and they say English is one of the easiest to learn.

I think english speakers just like to think its difficult!

It depends on what level you want to get to. Most second language learners of English NEVER get to the point of fluency like a native. Yet that is mostly true of all languages. But many can get along well enough with a lot of effort. Especially if they have been subjected to it via media before they start to learn it. There are also those that speak languages that are somewhat similar to English also that do fairly well.
However, when you look at the number of people who speak it as their mother tongue and really never perfect their own knowledge of the language, you start to understand just how difficult it can be. The conjugation of verbs can be relatively simple, at least at a very basic level. Yet there are SOOO many variations of conjugation that very few people can be expected to not make mistakes when they talk at length for anything more complex than 'Hi, how are you?' and 'Where do you live?' How many times have you had a light hearted laugh at the expense of a non-native English speaker. I know you have; it's unfortunately natural.
There are languages out there with simple verb conjugation and phonetic spelling, such as Esperanto, which I find extremely useful. English is definitely not it though.
There are other languages that are considreably more complex than English out there though; Navaho for instance.

Gxis!

It depends on where you are from. English is similar enough to French, Spanish, Italian and etc. However it is completely different from Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Arabic, so I believe that English would be more difficult to those people as it would be difficult for an English speaking person to learn those languages.

Once upon I would have siad yes immediately and without reservation. The English language has rules about spelling & pronunciation that are retarded and often contradictory. It also has words that sound exactly alike but are spelled differently.

Right now, I'm teaching myself Mandarin and I have to say that, sometimes I don't understand how it can have a word that means to different things (depending on its context). The words "nar" means where? and there and "shrr" means I am & to eat.

That's what I am told but, I have a hard time speaking other languages too.So who is right and who is wrong. In Aruba, they speak five languages there. They teach it in there school.
English is the one important one for them. they have combined four different languages Dutch, Spanish, English, French, Portuguese and also adopted their own. they call it Papiamento making it a fifth language. I have a hard time learning Spanish.

No, I think that English is one of the easiest, because of its verbs, it's easier to conjugate.
I'm Spanish and I speak despite of Spanish and English, French, and I think English is, at least, the easiest of those three.

No, although it is difficult. I don't for sure know the hardest, but I have heard that Navajo is impossible to learn if you are not born into it.

I've heard it's one of the hardest. We use a lot of slang and of course there are synonyms and homonyms to deal with.

I think it's all the slang that's difficult. If you spoke proper english, it would probably be pretty easy to learn.
