I have a past of arrests, 2 to be exact, 1 on disorderly conduct, and the other on Assualt with a knife, this was about 3 yrs ago, i was 13/14, i am 16 now, turning 17 in June, and i need to know if im elligable for my FOID card in Illinois, i have never served jail,juvie time, no court appearances, all i have done is go to the court house and spoke with the juvenile person, she just said dont get in trouble again or ull be in juvie, so is that a record?

Based on what you have said, I'd say you might be disqualified from getting a FOID card.

Pretty much as long as you are eligible to purchase a weapon, you are eligible for a FOID card.

What will exclude you from obtaining a FOID card:

Felony conviction
Commit a crime where a firearm was used
Active restraining orders
Domestic battery


The one that I am not sure of is the last question of the application, "Have you ever been adjudicated a delinquent minor for the commission of an offense that if committed by an adult would be a felony?". Depending on the significance of this question, it might disqualify you based on your assault with a knife charge.

Personally, I would call the firearms unit of the ISP and ask. If you lie on your application (even inadvertantly) and get a card, you will probably get yourself in deel sh*t if ISP catches up with you.

Dude stay as far away from firearms as possible as you are just going to get into more trouble with it.
