I have a memory card for my digital camera. It had a lot of pictures on it, nearly full. It worked just fine. Now..when I put it into the camera (or computer) it cannot be read. It says the the disk needs formatted. Why is it telling me this now? I've used the card for years. I don't want to lose the pics on there.

How do I get the pictures off of the card before I format? Nothing will read the card for me to even get pictures off of it.

This question highlights an important point. Flash cards are for taking pictures on and temporarily storing them until you can down load them on to a computer (backing them up to CD or DVD, a second hard drive etc.). They are not a permanent storage medium - if you do that, you are really asking for trouble. All other considerations apart, they are flimsy, easily damaged, easily lost etc. At least that's my opinion!

The memory in your Memory card is full. You cant keep any more pictures on your camera. Now you can keep this photos in ur backup, (Computer hard drive, Pen drive)
And then format your Card. Or you can keep your loved photos and then delete the rest. To get the new ones

Try Photo Rescue to recover the pics.

Then ALWAYS format the camera card ONLY in the camera, never use the pc. Should be formatted every month or two.
