I tried the refrig...they still went black, only faster...

I was told the best way to keep bananas fresh is to put them in the frigde. They will turn brown on the outside but the inside will still be fresh. This is also verified by Dole at the link provided. Hope that helps!

keep them away from apples.. there is something in apples that cause them to rippen faster. I've also heard that keeping them in the fridge helps them stay fresh longer... something about the cold keeping them dormant.

Don't place it near a bouquet of flowers. It will ripen faster.
