My husband and I are expecting our 2nd boy in Aug. I really like the name Andrew, but my husband does not. He does, however, like the name Drew. What do you think of Drew for a first name?

I like the name Andrew and I think calling him Drew works well. My problem with short names is that there's no nickname to get from them, they can't assert their personality by deciding what they want to be called. If you name him Andrew, he can decide he wants to go by Andy or Drew when he gets older.

But if your husband absolutely hates Andrew, you could always have his middle name be Drew and give him a longer name for the first name.

Both are cute really. My first was due in August so I hope you are aren't where it is hot in the summer because DAMN! I'm in TEXAS!

I think Drew is kinda adultish- which I personally think sounds great on kids. I think names should sound cute on a kid and sound distinguished on an adult too. I figure if you go with Andrew, he will most likely go by Andy later in life. With Drew, there really isn't an alternate. I like Drew better.

My little ones are Bennett (my Aug baby) and Grant (due in May)

I like it. But I feel that first names for the birth certificate need to be the more formal version of the name, with the shortened version being used as a nickname. We have a grandson named Andrew, and we call him Drew. Our son is named Bradley, and we all call him Brad.

It works well for Drew Barrymore and I like that cutie pie so yes I like that name. It also works for a boy and I have only known 1 guy named Drew so it would be a very unique name.

It depends on his hair color. Have a back up name just in case. Once you see him, he'll probably look like a jake or jack or something. It all changes once hes born. I know someone who decided on a name then once the baby came out, she saw a different name for him.
It also depends on the hair. If you're a blond, Drew is a girls name. If you have brunette hair, Drew is still a girls name.

convince you're husband drew is a girls name. you don't want your son getting teased in school for having a girls name.

When you name a child, please don't pick a name you think is cool or trendy. Think of that child that has to grow up with that name, and ask yourself, would you want that name( Dad) say, when you are 16-20 yrs. old. Give your child a regular name that insensitive people can't make fun of or make an embarrassing nick-name out of. I would not, as a 20 yr. old young man want the name Drew. When we named our children, that's what we thought of, so that's why we chose Kari & Krista. I would
go with Andrew, because he'll get Andy maybe. That's good !

Why don't you compromise? Name him Andrew, nickname him Drew. I guess Drew's an alright name...bit plain.

don't like it, personally, for a boy's name. love it as a girl's name though. sorry. i think andrew is more traditional - which is maybe what he doesn't like, but ... i'd go w/ andrew, and he can call him drew if he really wants. eh.
