All 4 of my dogs tails go straight when they are using the bathroom.

a dogs tail can be straight if it is sticking up than that means he thinks he is dominant. yo want your dogs tail to be down or out straight. what type of dog do you have? A labs tail can be straight, a pointers tail can be straight.

Dogs tails can be straight depending on the breed...hunting breeds such as pointers hold their tail straight when they have located prey. when dogs are relaxed their tails are relaxed meaning they can be held many positions...some dogs hold them up, some dogs straight down...it all depends on the mood of the dog and the breed. For example pugs should never have a straight tail...same goes for shih tzu's and for akitas and huskies...

Because it is a mood indicater. Within a pack there is always a pack leader, a tail that is between the legs= submission.
Dogs speak more with their body language then thier mouth.
this is how they establish there place in the pack. If you watch the tail behavior of your dog you may find it quite interesting, IE= when meeting a new person it may not like, does like, or smells another dog, when its in trouble, or scared, or happy!

because a dogs tail helps to balance them.plus when they wigg there tails it needs to be flexable.
