You are a space explorer cataloging two newly discovered planets. The majority of the inhabitants of each planet believe in a deity, but they are two different deities. Deity "X" is said to be not only all-powerful, all-loving, and all-knowing, but the designer of a marvelously complex and ordered world. Deity "Y" is said to be indifferent, absent, unconcerned with the affairs of his planet, and some even say evil. Which god rules over which planet?

Planet A: Has achieved a state of advanced benign equilibrium where there are no viruses or diseases, and only a very small number of natural disasters, which, when they do strike, always eliminate only the sinful and evil. The inhabitants, both plant and animal, have learned to maintain their existence through photosynthesis, and thus do not have to kill and eat each other in order to survive. There are no "birth defects;" every inhabitant comes into existence perfectly formed and equipped for a long and productive life.

Planet B: Adorned with many examples of beauty and order, it is also constantly beset by hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, volcanoes, lightning bolts, viruses, disfiguring diseases, parasites, leeches, flies, crop-destroying pests and many other phenomena which afflict both the innocent and the evil. Every life form on the planet can only sustain its existence through the destruction and consumption of other life forms. Some of the inhabitants are born with a crippling condition called a "birth defect", which condemns them to living extremely limited, short, or painful lives.

Well, the first would be deity X and the second deity Y. Exactly the opposite of what Christians will think.

An interesting question. The obvious answer is that Deity X rules Planet A and Deity Y rules Planet B....And yet I wonder..... It sounds as though the inhabitants of Planet A have learned to adapt to their environment in order to survive peacefully, as if they've learned to be self-sufficient, perhaps because they are ruled by an indifferent god. In this case, it's entirely possible that the obvious answer is, in fact, wrong.

But I suppose we can never really know, can we?

I would say that Deity X watches over planet A and Deity Y with planet B. Right? Whats the catch?

Your question makes no sense. One planet's advancement is based on science, while the other's disarray is based on natural problems. There is no way to deturmine with Deity oversees which planet by what happens in accordance to nature.

Your examples of Planet A: a paradise and Planet B: hell on earth are not good. There is no way of saying which deity is worshiped where when all you give is that Planet A has the great climate and wonderful scientific advances while Planet B is trying to survive thanks to nature beating the crap out of it. For all we know, the position of Planet B is the reasons for the bad weather and poor birth rate and defects. Who they believe in does not matter.

Athiest here:

Neither deity has been proven to rule over either planet, so there is no reason to believe that Either Diety X or Y rules over either Planet. (Just because the planetary inhabitants believe in a deity does not prove a deity exists)

This sounds like that one politician test that was out there asking what person you would vote for and most people chose Hitler, because on paper without knowing what he actually did, he sounded like a good moral person.
