I got pulled over today for a tail light bulb out, but I didn't have my registration with me at the time so he gave me a warning (not a ticket) and said I had 10 days to fix the light and show an officer my registration and have him sign it and turn it in. 10 days until what, is my question? Some of my friends have gotten warnings, and NEVVVER turned them in, and nothing ever happend to them. I don't need advice, I know what to do, but I'm wondering what happens if you don't turn it in? Anyone ACTUALLY KNOW? This is in Aurora, Nebraska, so they're alittle easy on people for this kind of stuff.

I already fixed the tail light and I'm getting it turned in today, but I guess I have to repeat myself, the question was WHAT DO THEY MEAN by you have "10 days"? I always wanted to know, since my friends have gotten warnings, not done anything about them and never gotten any tickets or warrants for arrest or anything. Please, leave the moral "do the right thing" out of this, I know what to do, and I'm going to do it. This is just a question, not my life on the line people.

The next time they pull over you will get a summons (ticket) not a warning.

i can say from first-hand experience that all too often people misunderstand the officer about the warning vs the waivable ticket. if he's instructed you to make the repair, and you don't do that or you don't turn in the signed off ticket to the proper court, you will be assessed late fees, your license will be suspended and ultimately a bench warrant will be issued for your arrest. that means that you can be driving along merrily and one day you get into an accident, say, two years down the road, and the officer on scene runs your driving record. BAM!! up pops that bench warrant. he/she can arrest you on the spot and hold you until you've posted that cash bond associated with that ticket, which usually around $5000/10%. best to call the court that's listed on the bottom of that ticket and find out just what you gotta do to avoid that whole mess, dear. believe me...i speak from experience.

Basically what the 2nd and 3rd answers say. It's sort of a warning that will become an actual ticket if you don't take care of it. A burned-out bulb is no big deal, just get it fixed, it's cheaper than paying the fine if you don't.

Sounds like you got what is called a "fix it ticket" You need to get it fixed and go to the police station and have an officer look at it and verify it has been fixed or they will issue citation if it doesn't get fixed by a certain time. Then you will not be able to register the car next year.

Yours is an equipment violation, were the others the same or were they for speed or seat belts? I'd just do it only because you really don't know what will happen, right? You need to fix it anyway, why not go and get it signed. Maybe they will give you a free sticker or something.

Did you say Aurora Nebraska? If I read you correctly you'd better resolve that warning real fast or......They'll send a very hungry ROSIE O'DONNELL to hit you with a rotten 15lb Salmon. This has happened to me in them there hills, WAS NOT PLEASANT! Return the warning quickly!!!!!

Who cares what will happen if you don't do it, just do what the officer told you to do. It's his job to uphold the law, he could of given you a ticket but he was nice enough not to. Give him the common courtesy and get it done. You said it yourself you know what you need to do. So your question is rather lame.

I think nothing will happen unless they stop you again. Remember that they have that in records.

If a cop is nice to me and give me a break I wont let him or her down... Nebraska police!,...uhh LAPD should learn from these nice kids.
