Double click on the Zip icon and it will unzip and then you can use the files. Zip is just a format that allows for easier file handling. If that doesn't make sense check out this link: http://www.tech-pro.net/howto_030.html

READ THIS ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please don't use Winzip. 7zip is open source, free, software. It has more functionality than winzip and it is FREE. Winzip is commercial software.
You can find 7zip here:http://www.7-zip.org/
and here:http://sourceforge.net/projects/sevenzip/
Just download and install the version for your operating system. You should then be able to right click on a zip file and have menu options for extracting it. You can also double click it to open the file in the extraction software.

There is an article at;
http://www.goitexpert.com/entry.cfm?entry=Common-Torrent-File-Types
That tells you what the file types are, and what to do with them to open them. It also has links to free software you can use if you don't have the software that you need installed on your computer.
