I am sure that a number of people will be filing lawsuits against the companies responsible for the food problems.

If your veterinarian can state that this is the cause for your pets medical problems, then you have every right to file a lawsuit.

My advice: If your pet was affected by this, get it down in writing, and talk to a lawyer about what you can do.

I agree. If the vet confirms that the pet became ill due to the recalled food, that the company should pay for the vet bills, afterall, it was their fault that so many are becoming sick and some have died because they ate the food. I did read somewhere that when the company found out about the contaminated food that they fed the food to a select number of animals and that 9 cats died and 1 dog. They think the food affects the cats that eat it more than the dogs that do.

The law cannot charge them criminally, I think until a human dies it's not considered causing negligent death.

However there are people who've started to sue in Civil Court, which is the other arm of the law, and they'll likely get paid at the very least their vet bills. The company is liable for at least that, since they released the food that was thought to be safe, and as a result of their negligence in testing it caused people to have to pay these bills that they otherwise wouldn't have.

The company really should just fork it out without question, they're idiots if they fight it. It's also terrible PR if they go to court at all.

If it was my pet. I would sue. Our pets are our family members. Bacause the vet bill can be very high considering how dangerous this is. I watched the news today and one cat had been on an IV drip for several days now. The company to compensate you for the vet bills and more if it dies on you.

Yup, as long as the vet as confirmed diagnoses and that it wasn't a previous problem and they can prove that they were feeding the recalled foods, then the company at very least should be responsible for the vet bills.

The companies already ARE going to pay for the medical expenses, if you save your vet receipts and have the packaging so you can prove your animal was exposed to the tainted food. You'll have to contact the particular company who your food came from to collect

people who have money and can afford a lawyer will probably request there bill be paid. What ends up happening is some lawyer is going to take this on with a few clients and tell you to call if your involved in the same situaution. watch. like they do with that new medicine.
