picture frames are nice!
you can buy them or buy cheaper ones and decorate the frame yourself!
then everyone young and old can receive a picture of you at the bridal shower in your thank-you notes!
I have also seen this mixed with small baby dolls for the younger ones....this helps with keeping them busy during the shower!

As a wedding photographer I have seen brides give all kinds of favors and many that were expensive and left behind when the party is over. I might be biased but when my clients use an engagement picture as their gift no one leaves it behind. What I do for my clients that want to give a photo gift is this:

Use photoshop (or any paint type program) and create a 4x6 image. This is the size that all your local photo stores print for about 15 cents. Insert a wallet sized image on one side of the design and on the other include your names and the wedding date and a thank you for attending. You can also include any other information you want the guest to receive. Use your wedding colors with a simple black or white background so it looks elegant on the tables.

All my brides love it and your friends and family will enjoy a professional pic of the two of you that is not so formal. If you want more details on hot to do this ask your photographer or email me, tracelightly@yahoo.com and I can show you a sample.

Good Luck!

I'm having cookies made with our picture on them. That way our guests have the best of both worlds, something edible if they want or they can keep as a remembrance. I can tell you all the little favors like candles and cups are just thrown away after time. No one keeps all that stuff anymore (except maybe families)

The shower I am throwing is beach/luau themed (the couple are going to Hawaii for honeymoon). For the favors I am giving out to each person a notepad shaped like a flip flop sandal, a pen that has hibiscus' on them and a floating candle shaped like a palm tree and a small pack of m&m's that are the bride and grooms colors and have their names on them. So you can try to tie the favors in like that or something. Good luck.

I am MOH for my cousin, and we are offering homemade chocolates and cookies for our guests to take as they wish. We will put out a display of the goodies along with some pretty containers, and we will invite our guests to help themselves to whatever they would like. This way, people can select as much as they'd like, and only the kinds they want--or they can refrain from taking any at all, if that is their choice. This way, people won't go home with something they really don't want, and if someone is dieting, they don't have to feel obligated to take anything (only to throw it away later on).

If you practice any sort of craft or hobby try to make them a nice version of whatever it is you do. If you are forced to purchase gifts, trust your instincts and get them something that you also like. There's a decent chance that you'll have one or two left over anyway.

Some of the most memorable shower favors I've seen were gourmet things. My cousin received a bottle of gourmet peppercorns. You might also think about making infused oil with some of your favorite herbs. Have fun!

YES! Go to www.wrappedhersheys.com and buy heshey bar wrappers only (they are $.99) and then go to your local bulk store and buy the bars and wrap them yourself. They give you all the things you need to wrap them nicely. You can persoanlize the wrappers any way you like. We did the "Heresheis" wrapper and wrote the following on the back
"Just a little somehing to say we appreciate you.
Thank you for coming and for the gifts too!
It wont be long now, the months are very few,
we hope we'll see you again when Bethany and John say "I Do"

This went over very well with every guest that came, who doesnt like chocolate? And if they dont like chocolate chances are they live with someone who does.

Good luck!

By the entrance door you can set up a long table and have a "candy buffet" all the candy will be coordinate to your wedding colors. Put them in assorted glass bowls and have little scoopers. They can put them in small white paper bags that could be monogrammed, you can stamp them your self with your soon to be initials or stamp thank you. The little bags should be available at any candy shop and you can get the stamps at Joann fabrics. Good Luck!!

You could make up little decorated boxes of candy or cookies. Perhaps some handmade craft item if you are that way inclined.... a bead bracelet is quick and easy to make. Select a colour and buy a lot of inexpensive gifts in that one colour, ie pink marshmallows, pink haircombs, pink hair ribbons, etc. How about a little photo frame.... you could put a thank you note in the frame and they could put their own picture in there later.

I'm not sure what kind of budget you have for the favours, but here's some suggestions: photo albums, pretty picture frames engraved with a saying or messege from you, books with a hand written enscription inside from you, or a cook book that one of your favorites or with recipes from your heritage.
