If you can afford it and if you are raising your daughter to be grateful for such things and not expect them, it's fine. So long as she knows it's a special thing and to show gratitude, I'd say spend whatever you can reasonably afford and whatever you feel is appropriate. I'd also avoid having a party that is very different from her friends' parties.

My boys are 6, 7 and 9. We don't do big parties. They are allowed to pick 2 or 3 friends to have spend the night and watch movies. The most I spend on a gift is $50.00. These are kids. If I were to spend over $500 dollars now, what will I do when they are 16? or how about when then graduate high school. If I give them resonable expectations now, they appreciate what they have more.

Once in each of my children's lives we gave them one special birthday party. They did not get both an expensive gift and party too. The party was their gift from us. They had a special activity filled location, party games w/ prizes for all and meal. They were informed along with the guests this was a once in a lifetime event. Yours was actually more expensive then ours because we considered the party the gift.

Our party was at an indoor ice skating rink. We rented ice time and they included the party room with the ice time rental. We were a little saddened that half the guests that R.S.V.P. as coming, didn't show up. All of the children went home with twice the game prizes. They were happy about it but we were concerned the parents might not be. It wasn't planned to look so extravagant and would not of if all the children had showed up.

We could never afford that for my stepdaughter but if you are able to afford it I see no problem with it. Compared to celebs that is certainly not too much. I've seen people who have paid more than that but it was because they were trying to one up other parents. I have also seen people who paid only $100 for parties. Again it is all whether you can afford it and as long as you were not doing it to one up other parents but to give your daughter and friends a good time.

Thats what we (approx) spend on the average birthday party that is outside of our home. I dont find that outrageous as long as you can afford it. But I think parents who spend thousands on birthday parties are overdoing it. Its just supposed to be a fun day for all Not "the social event of the season"!!!

I made a deal with my kids, they get a 'big' birthday party every other year....that way it cuts down on the yearly expense....and I believe that way I can spoil them a little, but not every year, and that way they get to appreciate a big party, and the following year, their treat is smaller and they can learn how to appreciate that as well....and if I were you, I wouldn't worry so much what other people think, it's not THEIR MONEY.....or THEIR KID

I have two kids 5 and 3. There b-days are May 8th and June 7th and we spend that much on both of them every year. I dont think it's alot because they are happy and having a blast at there partys. This year for my sons 6th birthday we are planning on buying him a $1000.00 4-Wheeler. Of course the party will be at my house so he can ride it so it will be hot dogs and hamburgers to eat. As long as they have fun, thats all that matters.

When you have parties and places like Party ZOne, I don't think that's a lot. My son gets so much stuff from so many people and he doesn't even like half of it. I buy him one gift for his birthday - something he helps me pick out. He's happy and so am I.

Good God, yes! That's a lot of money. I don't spend that much on my son at Christmas and birthday combined!! I might spend $50 on his birthday and $100 for Christmas. And he's 16!!

WOW! That is a great deal of money for a birthday. At that age, I think about half that is being generous. I'm more of a party-at-home type of mom.
