friction is when two surfaces rub against each other. For example: if a car is going down a hill [without using the gas] and then it keeps going on a flat surface [still without using the gas] it will eventually slow down then stop. It will stop because there was FRICTION between the wheels of the car and the cement.

Friction is when 2 objects rub up against each other and they kinda sorta stick to each other. For example without friction your car wheels wouldn't stick to the pavement and you would slide all over the place. So, friction is when the serface of and object rubs up against the surface of another object and it sticks a little.
