There is a "civil penalty" for no insurance. I had continious coverage (my vehicle was a lease, I neede to keep it fully covered), The fee is $500 but if I can prove that I had coverage I won;t have to pay it. But this was almost 10 years ago. Any ideas on finding the coverage?? Thanks

Your insurance company will have all of your records. Contact them and tell them you need proof of insurance for the last 10 years (or more, to be safe). They can mail or fax this to you within a day or so. This is what they are paid for...don't take no for an answer.

You want to buy insurance for a car ten years ago??? To avoid the $500 fine now. Good luck, I am sure some one will fake that for you for less then the fine. Why doesn't the lease co have the name of the ins company on the agreement or did they take your word that you did have it insured? They let you take a new car worth at least $12,000 without knowing how you would pay if it was totaled.

Well, how about the leasing company, wouldn't they have record of the vehicle and what coverage it carried? Try that, maybe the 500 bucks is easier, good luck.
