I deal with depression as well and am a born again christian. Well at first i was really against getting medical help however that's what I did. My good friend who also is a christian and deals with depression kinda told me that it's like this:
with depression you're in the basement and the medication and therapy/counsling will get you to the ground level....however your prayer and faith in God will get you to the 2nd floor.
I really believed this. Counsling and Medication really helped jump start me into healthy state o mind and my Faith and God and crying out to him at night when i was all alone helped me to the next level. He never betrayed me and kept me safe. I learned so much about him through this whole experience. he also gave me my husband during this time to help support me through my tribulations.
So yes prayer and God helps....but also don't be affraid to get medical help as well. I'll pray for you as well.

Prayer helps you deal with anything. I am praying for you right now. Some of these long answers on here are hard to understand if you aren't a Christian, you should try going to church and you will see, God forgives us before we ask. I hope things get better for you You need to pray for yourself each day too.

Not if you are asking this question, no. If prayer is to work, then it needs a lot of faith. The fact that you have needed to ask this question shows that you havn't got true faith. I've been through depressions also, and get bouts of it sometimes. I was perscribed medication, which I didn't particularly like taking. I found that talking helped, so if you feel the need to pray, then do so.:-)

i found out the longer you sut there and feel bad about yourself, the longer your gonna feel depressed. You wonder why nobody cares, why nobody wants to be around you. The reason why nobody wants to be around you is because YOU ARE DEPRESSED. you bring them down when you come around. You get up and fight your through it. The minute you get up and change your attitude about what's going on, the other stuff starts to change. whatever is kicking you and trying to push you down, i say kick it back. The first thing you got to do is open uo the curtains, put on some good music, take a shower, put on a good face, and open up the door and go out and see the world.Your sitting around hoping someine will fix it but, it's got to be fixed through you. You can't say "please, god help me." God is not gonna do anything if only try and help yourself to.Don't hold things back. Say it.Deal with that emotion... I wish you the best of luck

God. The Bible says his name is Jehovah and that he is the hearer of prayers. Pray to him sincerely, earnestly. Pour your heart out to him, ask him for help and BELIEVE that he is there and is listening and will help you.
There are times though when depression is more than an emotional problem... sometimes it is the result of a chemical imbalance. Seek professional medical help to determine whether or not you need medication to restore that balance.
But, even still, continue praying consistantly.

God helps those who first help themselves...
You were given all the tools you need...and all the wisdom you require you already have.
too many people forget that a belief in God means to actually believe what God said...
He said "You are made in my image."
Nuff said? It is Your brain... You do not belong to, nor are you subject to it's whims and fancies... It does what you tell it to do and nothing more or less...
Ask the Universe for what you want and watch your mantras~(the things you verbally or mentally repeat over yourself.")
Thoughs are things... Remember that!

Yes prayer can help with depression, but it can be a very serious illness, and medication is very often required to treat it. You should seek Medical Advice very soon.

"Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up."
Gracious Father, we come humbly to Your throne of grace. Lord, we are often times faced with the struggle of maintaining control of our lives instead of yielding ALL control to You. We do what we know we are not supposed to, and do not do what we should. Father, so often we work diligently to bring success to our own circumstances and forget that You alone are our guide and Redeemer. Lord, we ask that the Holy Spirit move in us in such a way that when we are in a time of distress, we will immediately begin to praise You. Lord, when we are faced with troubles, let the Spirit within us lead us in praising You with all that we are. Humble us Lord so that we might draw closer to You. Father, we know that in whatever way we think we can "lift ourselves up," they could never compare to being lifted up by You. We love You and we praise You Father.
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.
I will continue to pray for you that GOD may bring you out of your depression. Just know that my Father did not bring you this far to just drop you like a sack of potatoes. He's there with you, even when you think he's not.
Stay Strong! ni ni :-)
