I am shocked by my children daily! I have learned kids never cease to amaze you. My children are always doing or saying something that makes me laugh or go where did that come from. Also don't forget that most all parents think their child is wise beyond their years.

For fun:
My little guy now 9 at a little over a year looked up and said "look its da moooooon"...I was amazed!

This is kinda smart for his age, but it was really funny too. My son is 8 now. Two years ago, when I was pregnant with his twin sisters, I was sick a lot. one day he said, "Mommy, I know why you're sick all the time. You have egg shells in your tummy." When I questioned that he responded, "Yeah, egg shells. For when the babies hatch!" I thought that at the age of 6, that was pretty observant, even if he was wrong on the logistics.

How would I recognize profound wizdom unless I had it myself? lol
Our 3 year old attends a waldorf school and I never cease to be impressed by the nuggets. If someone asks her a dumb question, she remains silent. If someone asks her a question she has no answer for, she says ^I don`t know!^ Already that is beyond most .

Not shocked by their profound wisdom, but by their simple view and how accurate it can be without all the overthinking and extraneous stuff we adults add to the mix.

I have quite a few situations where my kids amaze me, but here are just two:
Our eldest had wanted a sibling for a very long time. Other children at his day care were getting brothers and sisters, so one morning at 4 1/2 he asked me "Mommy, do you have a baby in your tummy?" I told him no to which I was asked "Could you get one, please?" (we had been trying for quite some time just no success yet)

This is more about caring and compassion:
Our youngest has terrible trouble with his bowels. One time while I was helping him to go and he was crying in pain, his sister came over, took his hand and started patting it and kept saying "It's going to be OK, I'm here and mama's here helping you". It was just such a loving gesture from one so young. It gave me such a warm feeling that all of our kids love and care about each other so much.

My nephew is 4 years old and he chats online with me. He reads what I write and spells what he wants to say. Sometimes he has help from his mom but he can do most on his own. His mom has spent a lot of time with him reading, and spelling. He doesn't start school till next year, but I think they will be shocked at how advanced he is.

My first grader was in class while her teacher was explaining to everyone how to use their new library cards. The teacher said they look similar to credit cards when my daughter raised her hand. She said, "credit cards are bad, but debit cards are good." "Credit cards charge you unnecessary interest and you end up paying more for the item." Her teacher was speechless.
