I need to know the side effects of Paxil?

I was on Paxil for awhile. The things I noticed the most were my lack of sex drive, and unability to climax, and a kind of emotional numb feeling. I wasn't anxious or depressed anymore but I never got overly happy or excited either. It did help me immensely though. The worst part about Paxil for me was getting off of it. That was horrible-constant mood swings, nightmares, and panic attacks for about 2 weeks. Good luck to you.

Weight gain is a side effect that most people do not like. Zoloft is a better choice. For most people, Zoloft curbs the appetite so that extra weight is not an issue. Decreased sex drive is a common side effect of anti-depressants. Some are worse than others. Each individual will react differently to these drugs. Sometimes it is a trial and error kind of thing until you find the right one for you. It's unfortunate, but, that's just the way it goes. Good Luck and discussing this with your doc would be very beneficial so that you can weigh the pros and cons of each medication.

A side effect of certain antideph3essants is delayed orgasm. For this reason, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), such as sertraline (Zoloft), paroxetine (Paxil) or fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem), are used to help delay ejaculation. If SSRIs don't improve the timing of your ejaculation, your doctor may prescribe the tricyclic antidepressant clomipramine (Anafranil). Unwanted side effects of antidepressants may include nausea, dry mouth, drowsiness and decreased libido.
