Think about it!!!! If we smoke(legal or illegal) we use our hands. Drinking we use our hands!! What other part of our body do we use if we have an addiction??

What can we do with our hands that is productive so we don't have an addiction?

Use your legs and go for a walk instead of use/drink/smoke. Play a sport. Go fishing. Do arts and crafts. What ever it is, it'd probably be best to leave the environment you're in if it makes you want to use, even if ti's temporary. (Say you're at a party, don't go to parties or hang out with the "clean" kids. Or you're at home and want to smoke. Leave your cigarettes at home and walk to the park.)

While I see what you're getting at..that's not a very 'out there' theory. We use our hands because that's what they're for to bring (more productive things, like food) to our mouths. They're meant for us to hold things (legal or illegal.) So what you're saying has been thought of before.

It's not so much what we can do with our hands to keep us from having an addiction as it is what can we do to keep our MINDS from having an addiction. Any addiction you have is caused by something triggered in your mind, so anything you do that is healthy, becomes your 'addiction' and you don't need anything bad. The people above me said some pretty interesting things to do in that case.
