Braiding is not something that is very easy to give a how to in writing it is so much easier to teach hands on. If you already know how to braid then you are on the right track. French braiding is very similar you would want to first try and practice on a dolls head or someone else it is easier to learn by looking at it and then you could do it on your own. As far as the Zig zags. I am assuming you mean a part on your head in a zig zag. This can be done with anything your finger a pen. You start by placing your finger right at your forhead right where your hair starts, move your finger through your hair going back towards the crown of your head. Move your finger in a zig zag motion. there should be hair on each side of your finger or the pen seperate by pulling down to each side. This will give you the zig zag effect. For smaller ones make the zig zags smaller and closer together for larger do the opposite!! I hope I helped you.
