hair and have been asking her opinion of what she thinks about it and have been showing her pics of different haircuts.

Her response - "You are spending so much time RESEARCHING your dam* haircut, yet you waste so much money by NOT researching important things that you buy and end up wasting money. YOU ARE SUCH A PRETTY BOY!"

You believe this?

This is an ongoing thing since she always reads Consumer Reports and researchs EVERYTHING for weeks... and annoys me asking my opinion on all these trivial purchases.

The one time I ask her for an opinion, this is what I get!

Who is in the right here?

This isn't a case of who's right and who's wrong. This is more about 'are we on the same page to the point of sustaining a relationship'. Her answer was completely irrelevant to your question. And her response was a bit too aggressive for such a simple question. It seems as if she has other issues against you, to come out so strong with an opinion which didn't actually answer your question.

But to answer your question, you shouldn't be offended. She didn't really insult you. I'm sure there're plenty of guys who would appreciate the insult "you're such a pretty boy". She's just seems over sensitive about what's important to her.

A bigger question: Does her passion for what's important to her overshadow what's important to you, to the degree that she won't address it?

It sure seems like it.

Another thing, I'm assuming your a bit self conscious about the hair thinning. Does she care enough about you to address your self conscious attitude about it? If not, you may need to reevaluate the situation. Maybe it's time to sit her down and discuss her selfish attitude.

Ask her if she would mind just putting aside her obvious obsession with consumer advice, because you value her opinion.
Aren't you sick and tired of that anyway??

I'd tell her that if she gave one damn about you, she would put that stupid magazine down and act like it for a change. I assume you both basically know the cost of a haircut. Tell her once you select the cut, then she can investigate the best places to get the cut done at the most reasonable cost. She sounds like a damn tightwad.
I'd throw her out on her *** and chuck her pile of magazines on top of her, personally.
