I didn't know either, but after reading this book "The China Study" , there is no question in my mind...

Don't take my word for it, this guy is a heavyweight researcher that was funded by lot's of gov. and cancer association grants...

Animal protein is anything like dairy, meat, eggs, fish, etc.

The only protein that does not relate to cancer is from plants.

I am not saying that "animal protein is the cause of cancer" and neither is the book.
However there is a huge chance that it allows cancer to grow and prosper once a carcinogen has mutated a healthy cell

I actually went on the American cancer society site and looked into the claims. You should too.

Thomas M. Campbell II is the co-author. Dr. T. Colin Campbell is the guy who did the research. FDA should get it's facts straight...

"The China Study" is a fascinating book. I was vegetarian before I read it (for ethical reasons), and now I'm vegan (for health reasons).

Thanks for bringing up the topic. I think a lot of people won't believe you, but some will, and some will even read the book and learn something. Here is a web site with some epidemiologic data, for those who are interested:

There is a very important problem with such statements. The studies backing them are all bogus. When you compare vegetarians (or vegans in your case) with people who eat non-veg, you actually compare two classes of people: one is on average more educated and health-conscious (guess which) and one is mostly composed of average people whom have a poor diet containing a lot of fried stuff, and very few fruits and vegetables, have a higher incidence of obesity, smoke, and do not care very much for their health.

I've yet to see a study where the two compared groups were actually comparable, ie similar/homogenous in all thing but in animal protein consumption.

That said, human is an omnivorous animal by nature, and animal protein are the best adapted to his digestive system, the ones he can absorb best. Having an all-plant diet supposes a lot of organisation (or feeding yourself supplements) if you plan on staying healthy. Some people are even incapable of staying healthy on such a diet. They have reported unusual fatigue, low stamina and blood pressure drops while on a vegan/vegetarian diet. Some will develop these symptoms on the long term others will show them within a month.

If you want a real discussion on this subject (from all parties, non-veg eaters, vegs, vegans, raw-foodists) go to this website:

It's very interesting as well as impartial.

Clif protein bars are fairly just right & the builder ones have 22 grams. They're also vegan. Should you are not feeling full are attempting including more greens to your ingredients. Adding 1 or 2 more servings when you would mostly add 1 makes me lots fuller. There also low in energy if that makes any change you.

Why does that not surprise me..!? The FDA would never admit that something they are doing is wrong. They profit from the sales! I read a book by Kevin Trudeau and he pretty much said that same thing. He recommended eating only 100% organic foods. It's disgusting what they feed animials now days. The thing I don't get is if organic food doesn't have any fillers and no antibotics then why do they cost so much more than regular foods?!?!

A vegetarian diet never killed anyone that I know of. But relating cancer to animal protein I think is carrying it too much. To say cancer is the cause of cancer is going too far.
There are plenty of people who have not had cancer or will not get cancer who were and are meat eaters. etc.

Oh good grief. One of the authors---"Thomas Campbell is a writer, actor and two-time marathon runner."

None of the "facts" they write about has ever been recognized by the FDA or the by any of the cancer foundations.

meat is toxic! Animals are fed an unnatural diet of grains and ground up organs of other dead animals. Meat contains growth hormones, purines, blood, pus, antibiotics, steroids, urine, fecal matter, bleach, peroxide and all sorts of other toxic stuff. I was crippled when I ate meat, and now that I am vegetarian I am fine. You can get all of the protein, vitamins, minerals, fibers, and other nutrients from a plant based diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, and whole grains

Yes, I know - that's why I stopped eating animal flesh when I was 13. I don't use much milk or eggs, so I'm not a complete vegan. God made fruits, grains and nuts for Adam and Eve to eat.

I still do not believe it. Meat is a necessary source of iron and essential amino acids.
