Satan (serpent, devil, etc) came to Eve and persuaded her to eat the fruit of the tree of good and evil. Eve went to Adam and persuaded him to eat that fruit as well.
I guess both are to blame and are the cause of man's downfall, that is why both were ejected from the Garden of Eden.

In any case, we have the Lord Jesus who died for our sins, so that we, the fallen men, can regain our status before the Father.

Eve was the first to be deceived because the whole conversation took place between Eve and Satan, the original serpent. Eve then took some fruit and ate it in front of Adam and showed him that it did not kill her, so she convinced him so as to eat of it. Adam should have questioned Eve when she told him about the serpent, but he was equally deceived by Satan by listening to his wife because the man was the head of the woman and he took her counsel and did not reason with the consequences of disobeying God. In a sense you can also say that Adam was the one deceived by Satan through the woman because he did not have to die also, perhaps God might have given him another perfect woman and we would not have to did at all, as we all must because of the imperfect human parents that we all share. And by the way, for those who do neither know the bible nor the power of the holy spirit , one thousand years is but one day to Jehovah, so Adam and Eve did die within that day. Also, the moment that they sinned they were given the death sentence and they started their journey into death, so indeed they did die on the day of their sinning.....KECK

According to the Bible, Genesis 3:13 states:13 With that Jehovah God said to the woman: “What is this you have done?” To this the woman replied: “The serpent—it deceived me and so I ate.”
Also 1 Timothy 2:14 states:14 Also, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and came to be in transgression.
Yet we must remember that Adam, being the head of his family, bears the responsibilty for bringing sin and death to mankind. Romans 5:12 states:12 That is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned.

The Bible is quite clear about this - a scripture states that Eve was totally deceived.

Adam was just a shell-fish person who lacked faith. He was not fooled, but he knew that he would lose Eve to death if he didn't follow her. He chose for all to die.

He must have been alone for an awful long time before God gave him a mate to make such a terrible decision.

I think adam. I want to say God told both of them not to eat of the fruit, and Eve tempted Adam with the apple and he took a bite and the rest is history

This same question was asked not long ago.
Eve was deceived and Adam followed because he loved Eve and even if it meant death, he wanted to be with her.
This is an analogy of Jesus and His bride. As we, His bride was birthed from His side. Jesus giving His life for us because He loved us.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.
