i have a fuji finepix and its one of the best cameras i have used, i also use a nikon d1x but find the fuji produces just as good quality images during normal shooting.

sometimes they are not so hot once zoomed in without a tripod as camera shake can distort the picture quite bad.

Most people are discovering the hard way that more megapixls is not nesesarily mean better pictures.

Compact cameras have small sensors. Probably the 'sweet spot' for them is 6mp. After that, each sensor is too small, and the lens must be higher quality to compensate.

My son just bought the 6mp Fuji F20, and it does excellent. for $140USD

Per Canon:
Reducing pixel size to increase pixel density leads to poorer sensitivity and a narrower dynamic range. Even two differently sized pixels handling the same amount of noise, there will be less noise impact on the resulting image of the larger pixel. http://web.canon.jp/Imaging/cmos/technology-e/size.html

If you are referring to the Fuji S9000 or S9500 then yes they were originally that price. I have one and I must say I don't like it. I originally had the S7000 and it is a very nice camera (6 MP) so much so that when the S95000 came out here in Australia I raced out and bought it. It was a big let down. It takes reasonable photos up to about 20 feet away, but after that distant detail is just not sharp and clear.

I compared mine to a work colleague's and his was actually slightly worse! distant detail such as trees etc turn into little green and brown blocks.

The only up side was that this turned me to Nikon DSLRs, I have two of them now and believe them to be the finest cameras ever made.

Who needs 9 million pixels? You cant see the difference between 3 million and 9 million unless you are a photographer or somit.

I would recomend the Nikon Coolpix P1.

Its 8mp has 4x zoom and wi-fi.

you can get it on ebay for around £100, would say thats the best cam for that price range at that high mp. it really is a good cam

I have a few Fuji's and a few Olympus(both D-SLR and Point and shoot). I have had no problems with my 9100 except needing to get 2Gb cards because the 1Gb cards i have don't hold enough pics at the Highest resolution. maybe you got a lemon?? it happends...

Save even more money and get the S6000fd(S6500fd). It does better at high ISO and is cheaper. More pixels are not always better.
