You must have a CD burning program to be able to make a copy of a CD. The burning program would also allow you to create an ISO image of the original CD, which is not a copy per se, but which would let you create copies of that CD using the ISO file as the source (the ISO file represents a "carbon copy" of the data on the original disc).

I believe you can download Nero and use it as a fully functional trial version for some period (30 days?).

If you don't have a CD burner you can't. If you have a CD burner, WinXP comes with built-in burning software... or if your CD burner came with OEM software you may need to install it (it'll probably be nero burning ROM or Adaptec cd writing software).

windows media player will copy a cd to your harddrive then put a blank cd into burning rom and burn to it with windows media player! have fun!

As megaspar said, Windows Media Player will do that for you. Your computer came with that on it.
