This happened last night. We've been dating for 16 months, and he said this to me while sobbing and crying.
Me: Are you okay? It sounds like you're crying.
Him: I am.
Me: Why?
Him: Because I think we need a break.
Me: Oh. Okay.
*LONG PAUSE*
Him: Can we still be friends?
Me: Yeah, sure.
Then we got off. Does this mean he really does want a break, or is this an easy way of telling me we're over for good. And his friend told me that he txted him and my ex told him it was because we didn't trust each other. <3

It sounds like you are heart-broken and it also sounds like you really care for him. if this is the case, you need to go ask him. Ask him if he thinks of you as a friend and not a girlfriend. well just give him the break and space he is asking for but if he was crying then that is because he knows in his heart its not working and it is over
