Infant baptism is not a concept found ANYWHERE in the Bible. Quite the opposite is true, ALL examples of baptism were of older people, who knew right from wrong and were able to take the appropriate steps necessary towards salvation which are,
Hear the word: an infant can hear but does not understand what they are hearing.
Believe the word: and infant cannot believe what they hear as they have not clear understanding of concepts we have to learn.
Repent of your sins: an infant does not have any sins to repent of.
Confess the name of Christ: an infant cannot speak nor confess the name of Christ.
Be Baptized to wash away your sins: as mentioned above, all example of baptism were adults or young adults AND every example of baptism was done by immersion totally in "much water". Sprinkling and pouring of water cannot be found anywhere in the Bible with a connection to baptism.
So to answer your question, a person must make their own choice to follow Christ. No one can make that choice for them.

Why not follow the Bibles directives and wait until the child is old enough to decide for him/herself? Baptizing an infant who cannot make thier own decision is really quite unnecessary...the command to baptize went along with becoming a disciple of Christ...
Matthew 28:19 & 20: "Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20Â teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”

CHRIST NEVER SUFFERS A BABY TO HELL
DENOMONATIONS ARE WRONG 1COR 1:1-10
AND THOSE THAT GREW IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD
WERE BAPTISED
How can you ask a baby to repent of his sins confess Jesus is LORD and the Son of GOD Acts 2:37,38
Ephesians 2:1-4 says in your former days... WHAT FORMER DAYS DO BABIES HAVE TO WALK IN SIN
When you are old enough to understand your sin and the
full will of God then you can make a choice until then guess what!?! All dogs don't but ALL BABIES GET TO HEAVEN!!!
TADAAAHH!

Wouldn't it be better to go by the Bible?
No doubt your intentions are good, but the method and intent are incorrect.
A person needs to be mature enough that the baptism has meaning for the person baptized.
Sprinkling isn't correct, nor is infant.
Jesus was submerged. He was also grown.
His was a dedication of his life to his father's works and vindication of his father's name.
Today's baptism should be with the decision of the person to do God' work for the rest of his/ her life. It is a public declaration of intent. It is also symbolic of dieing to this world and being raised up again clean and pure.
Hope this helps, but we have a website you might wish to visit. (MANY more answers)
