I've been at all of my little brother's games (whether that be baseball, soccer, basketball, football, or hockey) since he was 6. He calls me his "lucky charm". Zack's 12 now, and I'm not going to be able to make it to his hockey game because I've volunteered to chaperone some of the girls at my church on a camping trip. How do I break this to him, he's going to be so dissapointed.help!!!

Just explain you would love to go but you have to do the chaperone thing and I am sure he will understand. Make sure you phone him after his game to find out how he did.

Well, it would be much easier if he was younger, but I see t hat he is twelve years old now. Hmmmm..Well, I would suggest you go to him soon and tell him that you won't be able to go. Then, I would give him something such as a bracelet you always wear, or the pony tail you always use, something small he can bring with him. Tell him you will be there in this way and that your pony tail or whatever it is will give him good luck. I know it sounds lame, but try to make it sound convincing because if you don't then he will lose his confidence and he will not pay attention in the game. And if he loses, it will all go downhill from there... Hope this helps

Well, I'm sure Zack would rather be going on your camping trip......ask for his input and ideas for your chaperoning adventure and peak his interest into your life, and he will not be so centered on his own.

He's 12...I think he should be capable of hearing the truth....It's not like you can't go because you have to watch Survivor on television. Give him a personal token belonging to you that he can wear or put in his pocket and tell him that you'll be rooting for him.

just tell him the truth and tell him you still love seeing his games and that you will be there on his next game. or if you get enough time try to make it to this game even at the last min...

just tell him that you can not make it. maybe you can give him something of yours, like a charm, to keep in his pocket to bring him luck since you cant be there.
