It is a beta-blocker. It is used to manage blood pressure. In my case, I took a low dose to manage/prevent frequent migraines. It is relatively inexpensive even if you do not have insurance. The generic name for it is propranolol.

Inderal is a beta blocker. I believe it is given for high blood pressure or some types of heart problems. It can also be prescribed for severe migraine headaches--not as a pain reliever, but as a method of prevention.

Inderal-propanolol is one of the oldest B-blockers on the market.
It is indicated in high blood pressure and angina, but seldom used now as it is a non-selective blocker and has more side effects than newer drugs.

It is still used as a migraine preventative and in anxiety, both diseases make use of the fact that it is not selective.

Inderal is in a group of drugs called beta-blockers. Beta-blockers affect the heart and circulation (blood flow through arteries and veins).
Inderal is used to treat tremors, angina (chest pain), hypertension (high blood pressure), heart rhythm disorders, and other heart or circulatory conditions. It is also used to treat or prevent heart attack, and to reduce the severity and frequency of migraine headaches.

My doctor prescribed me a very low dosage (10 mg) 3 times a day as needed for anxiety and panic. My understanding is that it's mostly used (in high doses) to lower or control blood pressure.

its used to manage high blood pressure, but its also used to prevent migraines. i used it for migraines and it worked but it made me so tired i had to quit taking it. id sleep for 14 hrs and would still fall asleep during the day. i was taking half of the lowest dose prescribed. it effects different people in different ways.
