A pound is approximately 3500 calories, so you need to have your caloric "burn" rate needs to be -35000 calories/month...or approximately 1170 per day. According to caloriecontrol.org, if you are lightly active, you need about 1826 calories a day to maintain your weight. If you are sticking to 1500 calories, your "burn" rate is about 326/day, which is about 3-4 lbs a month. You will need to increase your "burn" rate by about 400-500/day through exercize or decrease your caloric intake to achieve 10 lb/month reduction

^^ Some of the answers are correct. Don't use a scale when you're trying to lose weight, as awkward as it may sound. A mirror is the best judge. Also, for almost everyone, except for a few lucky people, fat stores in the abdomen FIRST. It's the easiest place for your body to put it, because it lets you maintain your center of gravity, and it's the closest to the stomach. So you are probably losing weight in other areas first. As for that stubborn fat pouch, just keep losing weight. There's no such thing as spot removing, if you keep up your diet plan, you're bound to see great results. But every so often, when you notice a big change in your image, change around your plan, because your body composition will be a lot different. LASTLY! Less than a thousand calories a day doesn't seem too healthy.. unless you had your plan perfectly done by a dietician. Your habit of not eating as much as everyone else should change as you diet, (your body will want food more often), since you're keeping your metabolism up through exercising. Try spreading out your meals even more than they are now, and try to eat 4-6 times a day in small portions. Hope that helped!

The bigger question is do you maintain the 158 lbs on that 1500 calories? Otherwise you must determine the number of calories burned per day. You want to lose 2.5 lbs per week. Based upon 3500 calories per pound you would need to reduce your intake by 8750 per week. Divide that by 7 and that works out to 1250 reduction per day....leaving only 250 calories per day.
Not a realistic goal if in fact you are maintaining your weight at 1500 calories. If that is the case then the other part of the equation is to increase the metabolism by burning more calories not reducing intake.

To lose 1 pound a week you need to cut out 3500 calories. that is 500 calories a day. Try a cleansing diet! I did and lost 11 pounds and 21 inches in only 9 days. I was very happy with the results and continued on the program and lost 29 pounds in 5 weeks. This is the fastest I have ever lost with other diets like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Slimfast etc…. Cleansing works by removing impurities from your body. You get impurities from your food (pesticides, preservatives, food additives, colorings) water, chemicals, pollution, medications, alcohol, hormones that the animals you eat were fed etc….YUCK! The impurites get coated with fat and remain in your body. To remove the fat, you have to remove the impurites. This system worked for me, maybe it can work for you too. You can check out the website or call this toll free number 1-877-587-4647 for more info. The program is not cheap, but it is worth every penny since it works and keeps you motivated. Good luck! I do not know your nature of work, that is, how much you burn.? 1500 calorie, for your body frame is OK. I feel you maintain 1500 intake, but burn more. For getting exact Body mass Index, go to goggle search and ask for BMI table, for females. Reduce your weight accordingly. Or you can consult a nearby dietician.

You can be any size, any shape, it doesn't matter, it's the
math. There are 3500 calories in a pound. If you burn an
extra 500 cals. per day, you will lose 1 lb. per week. So
1000cals/day = 2 lbs. per weeek. You want to lose 10 lbs.
in a month, that's 2.5 lbs. per week, so you will need to burn
off between 1250-1500 cals per day to get there.
Good luck!

to lose weight you need to eat less then you burn if you eat let's 1000 calories a day and your metabolisme is 1500 you already have a deficit of 500 calories a day and you will burn by walking and stuff. one pound is 3500 calories so you'd have to have a deficti of 35000 calories in the whole month.

you need to burn more calories than you eat so anything more than 1500 calories will be fine like maybe if you burn 2000 i'm sure that will be enough for you to lose weight

well you just have to burn more calories that you take in....10 lbs per month is not that hard.....because you have more time...i lost 10 lbs in one week.....but if you want to do it slowly thats great, its more healthy..... when i was loose wight slowly what i was doing was going for a walk after lunch and after dinner......and before i knew it i lost weight i did not change my eating habbits.....nothing, i just added in two walks a day....i went from 165 to 137.......it wasent too fast and it wasent to slow, and the reason i did not change my eating habbits is because i wasent trying to loose weigth , i was just taking the baby i was babysitting out of the house to get some fresh air, and i watched him every day soo... as a result i lost weight....
