This is a indian name. it means "like never before" or "like none other". it can be a boys name or a girls name. purva means before. 'a' is negating it. so..its means "someone unique".

In Sanskrit Purva means already existed. Apurva meaning that has not existed so far and even cannot exist in future. A thing that is very very rare and not available anywhere. Like Kohinoo Jewel. Even the beauty sometimes expressed as 'Apoorva'. So, we feel our children are like Apurva and wife in life is apurva.

Apurva means "never happened before" i.e. rare or unique. It's hindi name and if written like अपूर्व (apoorva) it's a boy's name and if written like अपूर्वा (apoorvaa), it's a girl name.
