Title : Is it safe and healthy to drink the contents of the egg
From: Murali
Question: Is it safe and healthy to drink the contents of the egg?
Ans: Eggs contains the high biological value of protein. The raw albumin contains an anti digestive factor that interferes with digestion. Egg also has a compound called avadin, which react with biotin (Vitamin H) and make it unavailable. Both these factors get destroyed on heating. The common infection by eggs is by the salmonella group of organisms. If eggs are well cooked this danger is also prevented. There is no added advantage of eating raw eggs and in fact it is disadvantages to take raw eggs.

Well, eggs have been known to carry certain diseases.... so no.
All said though, the risk of a healthy adult contracting anything from a raw egg is very very low indeed.
Raw or undercooked eggs only pose a danger for those with weak immune systems or pregnant women or small kids.

From my understanding, the salmonella bacteria is on the shell of the egg and the egg becomes contaminated when the shell is cracked and makes contact the the edible part.
My recommendation is to wash the shell of the egg before cracking and make sure that the shells of eggs you eat raw are intact before you crack them.

Not really - especially if you are pregnant as you can get salmonella from them. Always make sure you cook them properly
