I'm *maybe* traveling to Brazil Next Friday!!! I've called the US Dept. of State a million times to get it expedited, but I still haven't received it. I need a visa to travel. Has anyone missed a trip because of this?? They promised I wouldn't miss my trip a month ago.

I applied for it in January.

You need to be very aggressive. My daughter applied in Jan also and they are flying tomorrow. We started calling 10 days ago and it took several days to get through. They told us they would waive the extra expite fee and to call back 2 days later to get the tracking number for overnight mail. When we called they said that nothing was done because they didn't have a credit card number. We gave the card number at that time and then the next day still nothing was done. Finally last night we talked to someone who was very helpful and went right to the "Passport Task Force" and got an appointment for this morning so my husband drove to San Francisco and is standing in line. They are leaving tomorrow. If you are close enough to a passport office I would make the first available appointment now and then keep calling. Dial the number then 1 then 3, if they tell you about the high call volume then keep dialing 9 then 3 until they tell you to wait. Give them a credit card number and then tell them it is urgent and keep calling. Don't wait any days in between, ask to talk to supervisors. Tell them about the "Passport Task Force" No one mentioned it until we had called atleast 10 times. I would tell them you are leaving in 2 days. Good luck!
