I feed my dogs Eukanuba and I've heard that there is something going on about a food recall. Should I take them to the vet to be on the safe side?

There is only a type of food that was affected...some canned and pouched food from December to early March....if you go to www.menufoods.com/recall they will tell you which ones specifically were recalled....if you are truly concerned you can take you pet to the vet...you would ONLY have to do a diagnostic profile(which would check for kidney values) and a urinalysis....theses two tests should determine any effects done by the foods....

If you feed them dry Eukanuba, then you don't have anything to worry about. I believe it is only the canned and pouched food that has been a problem. If it is canned or pouched food, look online to find the lot numbers, etc., of the contaminated food to see if that is what they were eating. If they had some of the food, I would take them to the vet just to make sure they are okay.

There should be no worries at all now.The recall happened long enough by now that all the contaminated food should be off the shelf. Unless anyone has the food at there house bought before the recall, then they should not feed it to there animals. It was just the wet moist food.

Some of the pets that have eaten the contaminated foods, have had liver failure and had to be put down. This is very sad. You can call your vet and ask him what the best thing to do for you pet is. It depends on what kind of food the animal is eating. Dry food should be perfectly fine to eat. It is usually the wet, bagged food that is poisoned.

See if your food was in the list of recalled ones. It depends too if you feed your dogs this food solely and nothing else. If you feed them table scraps AND this is added in for "flavor" or as a treat instead of just mashed taters and gravy, I would not worry. If this is all they get to eat, then there is a good possibility of kidney failure.

Only the wet canned food is a concern. If you have fed them canned food call your vet. Here is a great place to find good food for your pet www.HealthyPetProducts.com

If the word Menu appears on the can, I would dump it because that manufacturer is the source of the problem.
How Concerned, would be up to your feelings. How much you value your pets life and wellbeing? There were so many different brands and varietys mentioned, that I would call the number on the can if I had any doubts.

First check to see if the bag you feed them is contaminated. Do this by wed searching to find the lot Numbers. If you Can't do that then Yes Plz do take your dogs to the vet.

Only the wet, canned food is affected. Just don't feed them any more of that and you'll be ok. The damage would have already showed up, by now.
