Or are they secretivly looking for the answers they really don't have. People are usually defensive when they are unsure. Notice how the Christians who are sure seem very kind, loving, and honest.
Notice I didn't call them Bible thump... YA is making me grow:)

When people are in fear and doubt they are not looking for answers, but to transfer their fear and doubt to others.

It's quite apparent who the real believers are most of the time, and I really don't have a problem with them since they are being honest with themselves and me.

People with real belief/faith radiate this undefinable and positive quality whereas the fear/doubt 'believers' clearly have an energy sucking aspect. This is easy to spot in real life but a lot more difficult on YA. They aren't fooling me and they can only fool themselves for so long.

Of course. The single, most important message from the Christian Bible is to spread the word. Not force the word.
And to accept all people no matter what. But, then I am not a Bible "thumper", in fact I know little about the Bible. Read it completely at least three times in my earlier life and concluded that I would leave the great knowledge of it to others. As with all books, of history, it was written by men and edited numerous times.

I have been called a "fundie" in this section many times but if people really knew me they would say that yes he is a "fundie" but a weird one. I do not go to church. In fact, I never in my life belonged to any church. I do not identify with any Christian sect as being my own. But, that being said, I believe that the Pope is the leader of all Christians. That the Catholic church is and was the first Christian church. But I am far from being Catholic. I don't look for answers, because I think the word of God is self-explanatory, and my faith is in that word. I have the highest respect for the Amish and many times wish that I had been born Amish.

When the Amish girls were killed in Pennsylvania, the Amish broke their belief to have a machine come in and destroy the school almost right away. An Amish Elder immediately said that they, the Amish, forgave the killer. They sent some Amish to console the killers wife and children. Another Amish Elder said, "that since we believe in the afterlife, the dead are better off then the living." If I could be one half as noble as they are I would be much more then I am. And we all can learn from these kind and gentle people.

Personally, I'm here because I've been a christian my entire life, and I've done my own personal study (which doesn't always coincide with my religion), but I feel I've learned a few things other christians, especially newbies, might be interested in. I've read the bible, but I didn't memorize it, so don't often quote it. People have questions about religion, and I know a few answers, which is basically why I come to this section. I also try to dissuade newbies, along with some judgmental types, from trying to judge others, since some of them seem to be under the impression that's what they're suppose to do. They're not. Jesus is the judge, none of us, so I guess I feel the need to let them know this.

I guess I could be in the category or Bible quoting, (not the leg slapping part), passionate Christian.
I am here to answer questions to the best of my ability, sometimes I do not think I do God justice.
The motivation is to help for the most part.
Sometimes it is to do a little bit of humorous jousting with those who are a little more audacious in their questions.
I am glad you are growing.
And sometimes, yes I am looking to see what other believers are thinking and what scripture they are using to back up their statements.
I don't have the whole Bible memorized probably never will so sometimes I need a little help myself!

Christianity is a simple religion. It is unnecessary and off-putting to copy and paste endless Bible verses in "answer" to simple questions.

People make Christianity far more complicated than it is. See John 3:16, enough said.

I'm a Christian, I think "Bible Thumping Christians" is a right and proper description of a certain type of personality and religious zealot.

Very good for you. Growth is important. Dont lump us all together, we're not all out to get the non-believerrs. Some of us just want to show the Love that we have been shown. And what is wrong with that. And you are right, some people do get defensive, believers and non-believers alike.

Peace

I think that there are some insecure people on both sides. I, myself, came onboard because I thought being in this forum would be challenging. And it has been. I have had to dig deeper than ever into what I believe, and why.

That is very true. The ones who are comfortable in their beliefs, don't react with 'Thus sayeth the Lord" statements. They are clear about what they believe and are always respectful.

The more aggressive Christians who remind us of hell and state verses remind me of guilty defendants in a court of law.

the bible ONLY presents lies and deceptions of religion!

Here's the True answer:

Create a private, personal, direct, divine Relationship with Our Creator and save your Soul from religion.

Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truly Free!

Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!
