I was at a wedding where the best mad did something clever. He asked the groom to put his hand over the bride's hand so they could study their rings as he spoke. He talked about the symbolism of the ring and unity and said all kind of traditional stuff.
Then he said, "Now take a real good look, because now that you are married this is probably the last time you will ever have the upper hand." Everyone laughed. He pulled it off pretty well.

You can make a crack about how the bride's father gives her away to her new husband, and you're here now giving him away to a new best friend -- his wife.
Make sure you run the joke by the bride beforehand, if at all possible (or the maid of honor, someone who knows the bride). You know your friend and how he will take things. But the best man speeches can be pretty stressful for a bride, when they suddenly bring up wild parties from the past, or make jokes that she doesn't understand.

The funniest start to a best man speech I've ever heard was for my sister's wedding. His best man started out by saying now that the couple was getting married the bride would like all the keys she's given out to her house back. (He had given out keys to almost every man at the reception to give back) Then he put out a bucket and all the men came up and handed in their keys. Then he asked all the ladies who had keys to the grooms house to turn them in. No one came up. He asked again and only his mom came up. It was really funny. I don't know if that would work for their situation, but it was a really good opening. Good luck!

make it personal.... if you are his best man.. then is because you guys are really close and have shared memories together.. nights at teh club...gf..maybe schl? ..you know life ...so think back and search for good times sad times bad times.. and out of that a personal speech should come along.. those are really the best..the ones that are always remembered... (but do not go over the top) lol =) wish u luck and enjoy the spotlight

I heard a few that made mention on excuse me but I am still recovering from that bachelor party last night....
I would google.... there are a lot of websites on there that have speech and joke for weddings info.
Also it truly depends on you and the crowd.... like how religious... and what type of personality the bride and groom are.

My brother said this at my wedding:
When (name) first asked me to make a toast, I was incredibly honoured. (pause) Of course, then I realized I would have to make a speech.
Everyone chuckled. Then he continued with a few heartfelt sentiments and the toast! It was a very memorable toast for me & my husband.

In the early 16th century, men used to have to prove that they consumated their marriages. In order to do that, they would have their wife lift up her skirt and bend over so the other men could check. If the man was satisfied that she was deflowered he would pour honey down her crack, so the next person that wanted to check could just stick their finger down there and see if it tasted like honey. Hence the word HONEYMOON.
