just one of the many examples of "genius" atheists on this site. of course atheists will claim they never saw an atheist be out-debated by a christian. i dont think they are looking hard enough....monkeys eating each other then committing suicide, come on! sounds like a law and order episode

"Generally in warfare, keeping a nation intact is best, destroying a nation second best;
keeping an army intact is best, destroying an army second best" --Sun Tzu, Art of War (via Jim Darwin's always interesting 360 blog)
The Christians vs. Atheists debate on Y!A sounds like it wants to be a war on some levels. The Christians have the right idea about conversion, as that is better than obliteration. However, their efforts to convert are too forward and blatant, too visible so as to allow the enemy to identify the threat and avoid it easily.
"Warfare is the Way of deception. " --ibid.
It isn't that Christians shouldn't debate atheists about religion; it is only that they are being too open about it. If the objective is to "turn the enemy," one should follow the precepts of war. Is this war? Or is it friendly debate? Most of the back and forth postings between the two camps sound like playground taunting to me...

Just as a disclaimer here that you might appreciate..... there are some fairly retarded athiests out there too. Theistic religions don't have a monopoly on all the world's idiocy quite yet...... but still...
Despite that I have -still- never seen an athiest be out-argued by a christian. The most I have seen is a demented bickering match where both sides were effectively evenly matched (at a very low level).
I do wish that you christians would just own up to your idiocy though. I mean you cannot possibly believe that what you are posting is valid. The guy you linked to wasn't even an athiest at all, nor was he expressing any kind of sense.
Just give up... do as Jesus told you and turn the other cheek already. You hear me? Jesus commands you to accept the verbal *****-slapping and like it!
Every time I see another christian in denial of their own stupidity.... I see another hypocritical moron who claims to love Jesus yet never gave a rat's **** about anything he taught or stood for.

First he's not a genius atheist, but a novice.
Second he did cite some imperical reserach availble.
He's is making a weak argument, but so does religion.
Religion would have a far greater argument if we could walk on water and ask God to douse Richard Dawkins with a lightning bolt right on live TV and have it happen!
But that doesn't happen in reality.
Religion doesn't even have burning bushes anymore.
So we're arguing based on something you can tanglibly prove, with no imperical evidence. There are no VIDEO tapes of Moses and Jesus. There are no photographs of Adam and Eve in Eden.
So it's our belief and a book. That's all we can argue with.
Doesn't make for a very solid argument.

Matt, would you care to have a logical debate? Because my money is on the genius atheists. Maybe not that guy, But I'd put my money on Jim Darwin over you any day. Not because Sean is necessarily any smarter than you, but because he has facts on his "side" while you will just be pointing to an ancient book.
Additional: Hey Outraged: "Purls before swine"? Shall I cast my knits before badgers while I'm at it? Pearls. Not Purls. Purls are stitches in knitting.
Additional edit: It's TLG, not TLF, and no Law & Order episode has EVER been that stupid.

That's not an atheist. And I still haven't seen an atheist be out-debated by a Christian. Ever. I have seen a heck of a lot of Christians who are completely obsessed with atheists for some reason, though. Most of them don't even have an argument to present. They just come on here and hurl childish insults and then try to claim that they've out-debated an atheist. Hurling insults until the atheist doesn't want to talk to you anymore is not out-debating. That's how four year old children think.

The debates will constantly be there. even while God himself walked between human beings, human beings nonetheless questioned him. It boggles my innovations in spite of the indisputable fact that, that those human beings, the chosen ones and non chosen ones witnessed all of the marbles and CHrists human beings additionally witnessed all he did, elevating the ineffective, walking on water and that they weren't inspired. In our time precise now if I witnessed what God and Christ did at that element, this might actual be a ask your self, them back lots of human beings might think of they're alliens from outer area. How do you alter into an atheist (till you have been dictated to be) or % to be an atheist? For comparable motives some % to have faith in God and a few do no longer. including your little ones, they get a boo-boo, and you kiss the boo-boo to make the newborn sense extra ideal. faith and believing works an identical way. all of us might desire to have something to have faith in, that's the essence of life. I plant a tree and that i wish that tree will strengthen..it is my wish. God is wish, is that tree, we water it, we watch it daily to work out if that's grown/ faith works an identical way, it is going to be nurtured..and we are hoping and have faith it is going to strengthen. you have got a neighbor that tells you it won't strengthen...what are your thoughts approximately that neighbor, once you're so hoping on your tree to strengthen. think of then how this might prepare to an atheist and somebody who believes in God..would not count with the help of what call..

Yes, actually, a straw man is exactly what that is. Let me enlighten you on what a straw man is.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man
Point 3
"Present someone who defends a position poorly as the defender, refute that person's arguments, and pretend that every upholder of that position, and thus the position itself, has been defeated."
Isn't that exactly what you've just done? You've taken a poor argument, and applied it to all other atheists, then said no atheists are worth debating with.
