I own a Hyundai Santa Fe and know people who own a Mazda Tribute and the Hyundai is better in pretty much every category - drive, reliability, features, warranty, comfort, etc.

Well here is the thing. What year are we talking about. The mazda and the Ford escape are the same vehicle. Now the Hyundai may be a korean version of the same car depends on the year. Ford owned most of Kia and Hyundai bought the rest of it. So Hyundai is really a Korean Ford mostly. Its really a matter of preference in features. Our fleets use the Ford Escape which is the exact same vehicle and the tribute. WE have had little problems with the escape and find them cost effective to maintain as compaired to their foreign cousins.

i would stay awy from the mazda tribute, it is basically a ford escape, over marketed and overpriced.. Are you committed to one of these models? I would tell you to look at the RAV4 or the Tucson they are better bang for you buck cars.. as long as you stick with the 4 cylinder..
Also I have heard good things about the Santa fe..
Good Luck

Santa Fe I have a 2002 it rides like a car gets great gas mileage.Mine has a 101,347 miles on it.I have put one set of tires on it, oil changes and one tuneup never had any problems and it still runs great. I live in Houston, TX. and in July am going to Disney World in it with no concerns about the trip. When I decide to trade it in I will get another.
