I sent my green card application a couple of weeks ago and have yet to receive a receipt notice from the USCIS which is fine as I know it can take up to 30 days to get that.
However my checks for the filing fees have been cashed. Does this mean that my application was thorough enough and they wont be asking me to submit more documents and/or evidence?
(Please dont bother to answer if you are one of those boring sarcastic people who think only terrorists appy for green cards! I am genuinely and happily married to a US born citizen!)

Summermoon, thankyou for answering, but you are seriously misinformed. Maybe the person you are talking about was out of status because they were not legally inspected when entering the US or they had a criminal record, which can cause a problem.
But I have never heard of anyone being asked to leave or not being approved on the basis they were out of status. I made sure of finding out this particular information from an immigration attorney AND the USCIS before I applied. They both stipulated that being out of status is not a reason to be denied or sent back to your native country to apply.

it does not mean you will get your application processed (although they did not out right reject it which is good)... but it means they got it and that so far all is good... you should get your receipt #'s soon etc.... unless they send you some notices that something is wrong, don't worry!!!
My check was written through my lawyer, so i don't really know the correlation to when the notices appeared, but I did not have any problem with my application, so i don't know if they will cash your check and still tell you something is wrong...
Good luck to you!!! at least so far so good!!! they got it!

It actually doesn't mean anything other than they received your application. Even if it is not approved they don't give the money back. I hope that you had a fiancee visa before you came because if you are out of status you will not be approved..or you will be sent a letter to leave and go to the embassy abroad on a certain date and then they will inform you of the fact that you must be excluded from immigration to the US for a certain time frame depending on the amount of time you were here out of status. (I know someone this happened to) So if you go you will eventually be approved but it may be as long as 10 years but probably only will be 1 year and then you can reapply abroad.

It only means that you had enough money in your account for the check to clear. They don't even start work on your application until the funds clear. It can be a lengthy process, be patient and Welcome to the USA!!!! At least you are doing it Legally

No, this doesn't mean anything. If your application is rejected, I think you still have to pay the application fee.
