Some veterans are not very happy about the way they are treated by the VA. I used to work for them and I know that most vets are grateful for the care they get. Of course there are people that are not going to be satisfied no matter what is done for them. My own father (a Navy veteran of WWII) got excellent care when in a VA hospital. The staff was very caring and a big help to him. I have had medical treatment at a VA hospital, and except for the waiting, I was satisfied with my treatment and care.

As far as imcompetence, I know for a fact that if a vet is receiving a monthly payment from the VA, a fiduciary is appointed to handle the vet's financial matters. My sister's husband was a Korean War vet and disabled 100%. When he passed, my sister was given all the help she needed to start receiving survivors benefits. I agree that you should check your facts before throwing darts.

????? I think you have gotten some misinformation. Relations between vets and the VA are strained but it isn't that bad. All my children and wife get any repetitive prescriptions they need free through the mail. I do think the CHampVA, Tricare nightmare should be fixed so that we don't have to pay for additional supplemental insurance to cover the inevitable cost differences. You may be directed to buy a certain car if you are applying for some special extra stipend for a handicapped vehicle, but your money (little as there is) is yours once you receive it and you can spend it any way you want. I prefer to eat and feed and take care of my family with ours.
