I have a dilemna on my hands..I am in my mide twenties and would like to go for nose-reshaping..my fiance asys I don't need it but if it makes me happy, he will support me. There is a problem…I grew up with my dad and we're close but I am not sure if I should tell him about my plans. My dad loves me loads and thinks I am the most pretty young lady in the world…if I tell him ..he would be so worried and stressed and beg me not to do it…he is 60 years old and I don't want to cause him stress. On the other hand, if I tell him after…he might feel bad and like I hid things from him, which may equally upset him..I don't know what to tell. I know he will be against the operation..he doesn't understand why women do such things…what's your advice? I really love my dad...

Your concern for your father's feelings is very touching. It's refreshing to hear in a time when parents' concerns are often ignored or disregarded. He probably will worry if you tell him. But that comes with the job. Your choice is very easy, if you think about it. Would you rather cause him worry...or hurt? As a dad, I have given truckloads of advice. Sometimes they listen--sometimes they don't. But I always felt empowered and honored when my views were solicited. Even if my objections or encouragements were disregarded, I felt better about myself and about my kids when they took the time to ask my opinion.

In the end you are the one that will have to live with your decision, not your father. As parents we always think that we know whats best for our children, but when it comes to their happiness, we are often ignorant. Everyone wants their parent approval in their decisions, but sometimes we don't get it. Either way your Dad isn't going to be happy in your decision, but if you tell him now it will save him the hurt of having you keep secrets. He would look at you as more of an adult.

Has a parent we are always concerned about what our children are doing or the decisions they make. But we know you have to make your own decision that called being an adult. if you dad really loves you he may not agree with your decision but he will respect the fact that you feel his opinion matters. If he say no then that is only his opinion but ultimately your decision. Now as an adult make your chose and then live with your choose.

If I were you-
I would tell my dad.." I don't want to do such a major thing in my life without you. I need you to be with me always and I felt you've always been there for me and I'm hoping you'll try to understand why I want to do this." He will eventually. Don't hide it from him- that would hurt him more.

You should tell him, it might hurt his feelings if you don't. Just explain to him why you are doing it.
