"Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer or give away, and whatever austerities you perform—do that... as an offering to Me."

Why would God want everything we do to be an offering to him?

Because He is the only One worthy of those things.

We are just mere men....but He is Almighty God.

You know what Sno stuff. If you seek truth objectively with your brain and your heart you will find it. If you seek excuses to make you feel good about yourself you will find them.

Consider the Christian message.
1You are an imperfect human, as am I. ( I think we can all agree on that )
2God is willing to help you to become a better person, but you have to acknowledge your need of Him. Not self help.
3 If you refuse His help, you are worse than the worst sinner who accepted His help. (Although the rapist was originally worse than you, he was lifted to better behavior by a supernatural power than you are by tugging on your own boot straps.)
4 If you accept His ways, He will make life here better ( happier and more fun) than you imagined. And He promises heaven afterwards.
5 If you accept His ways, He will make you a better person, more loving, patient, truthfull, better employee... than you were before.
6 This is a gradual process and Christians are all at different points between sinner and saint. Some have given up, because it is hard. Others are faking it to look better. Some are proud, but eventually God will work that out of them too, if they continue to submit to Him.

Now, I do not know what you have seen in Christians, but apperantly it wasn't perfection. Maybe it was outright hypocracy. In any event what I just described is what a true Christian is going through and trying to teach. IF YOU CONDEMN THIS LIFESTYLE AND TEACHING IN IT'S SIMPLE AND HONEST FORM , YOU ARE NOT A VIRTUOUS MAN - YOU'RE BAD! I might not be perfect, but I admit it.

Some one elses sin does not ecuse your bitterness.
If you were hurt by a Christian friend, It doesn't mean you can sin.
When you stand before God on judgment day, what do you think He will answer you when you tell Him about all the hypocritical Christians on earth.
Don't let some one elses sin keep you from hapiness.

I want you to know why I talk this way. First, obviously, I think I am right. Second, I have experienced the enjoyment of accepting God's ideas. It's a good thing. it's more enjoyable to be happy than mad, man. Thirdly , I want you to feel the same way. It's not that I am being scornful, Ijust think I am right and I want you to have the same thing I have. Hay man, I'm not even making money off of you, I just want you to be happy. Quit fighting love. Good luck!

The bible says that if we keep our lives, we
lose it but if we give our lives to him, we gain
it! The scripture can be confusing sometimes,
thats why we need the holy spirit to guide us.
This scripture does not mean that God is selfish
and wants everything to or for himself, if that was the
case he would not have created us with a conscience
or the power of free will.
God asks asks us to do some things for his own glory
because our that is the only way we can truly be happy.
The reason for all the caos in the world is because we
do things according to the way we see fit, if we all did
everything to the glory of God, there would be no war or
confusion and disorder. In other words, Gods commands
are for our own benefit, he has all he needs. H e also wants
to be in communion (fellowship or 'in our lives' if you like), the
same way that a loving parent is involved the lives of there
children. Hope this answers your question.

First of all, God didn't say that. The people who wrote the scriptures of many religions say that. In so doing, they are recognizing that a higher power exists and keeping their faith strong. It's a "way of life" mentality. God is in each of us and if you view it from this aspect, then we are doing it for the edification of others who are a part of God.

It's like tooting your own horn- if you are a believer- then we know that all the glory goes to God. I don't want the Glory for something I know came because of a Blessing from him and because of him. This is for Believers now not for Un-Believers.So don't get ya draws in a wad if you don't believe!!!

(Dude, where do you ever get your quotes?")

But anyway, whether you want to accept it or not, we humans are imperfect beings. Doing anything based on our own standards would always leave us a little short. God made us to bring glory to Himself; not the other way around.

"And when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.” John 12:32

THATS WHY HE'S GOD

He's not asking it for Himself He's
asking it so that you or we won't be
trying to take responsibility for it
and mess it up
When Man sees glorification in his
deeds he usually goes overboard

Thats when you become zealot
Idi Ameen, Sadam Husein, Ben Ladan,
Adolph Hitler, Pres. Bu... oh uno the rest

Stop generalizing everything!
Give some scripture support!
Don't just say one thing and do nothing... And i dont mean the one verse that you read that says this? If he says it all the time you should be able to find heaps of scriptures easily!

He is creator and deserves every praise possible...your question isn't the first time somebody has asked that...hmmm...Satan aka Lucifer also asked this question whilst in heaven and you now see the result...Pride goes before a fall!! I hope you don't make the same mistake.
