Our department has downloaded software so that they can see how much time we spend on the computer during a shift. If Yahoo Messenger is downloaded will that show as a continuous open internet connection?
If so, if another page is open can they show a difference between the two or does it all show as one time?

it really depends on the kind of software they have, some just monitor the url pages loaded, other just the computer uptime whether connected to internet or not. You probably need to find out what its meant for, if they are concerned about people not working, something tells me it monitors bandwidth even and pages.
