You should be doing what's called Plyometrics and Plyometric exercises. Plyometrics can be done for the upper body too. But since your focus and sport is jumping, look at the lower body ones. START SLOW TOO AND DONT OVER-DO IT. Especially with box jumps. GRADUALLY increase or your knees will take a beating.

Go here for the information you need on that topic as its easier for you to read than me to explain.

Have u ever tried bugee jumping !!!
What a fun it is! .It can be treated as a v.v.v.useful exercise to improve ur jumping skills. Besides that u can also try ur hand at skipping (using a rope) .
There is actually no need for changing ur regular diet , intake more of proteinaceous foods( milk, pulses) & iron rich veggies (spinach) .Eat always in moderation
A regular jogging 4 bout 15-20 mins can help too.

Use a weighted belt around the waist to exercise. The weight should be five percent of your body weight. Strengthen the back , shoulders and hips to get the leverage while jumping, in addition to your regular routine of exercises.
A high fibre , high protein diet with requisite dosage of vitamins and minerals should be taken daily. To relax the muscles, oil massage with warm sesame oil once a week. Initially work out three times a week and then increase it to five times a week.

Plyometrics is what you need to do. Interval training will also help. Check out the website that David suggested - as he said it will be easier for you to read than us explain.
