It would help to know what kind of injury she had. If there is blood involved, remember that birds bleed out and die in a very short period of time. Unless you know what you're doing, don't try to splint it yourself, you could do more damage than good. She really needs to see a certified avian vet.

If she is in a cage with other birds, she needs to be removed immediately to avoid being attacked by the other birds. If possible, move her to a smaller cage with towels on the floor of the cage to give her cushion for the leg. Move her food and water to the floor and remove perches. Give her time to heal without having to put pressure on her leg.

Vets are very good about letting people, especially regular clients, pay over time. Call a certified avian vet and find out how much it will cost to give your bird the care she deserves. See the link below to find a certified avian vet in your area.

Your bird NEEDS to see a vet. There could be more going on than what you see on the surface.

Also, having rescued a bird that had NOT had vet care after a foot injury you will be opening yourself up to MAJOR medical costs down the road. Pressure sores, infection, fungus, toe nails, and other things will need attention every 6-12 months. My bird will eventually need at least two toes amputated because of this. If I could charge the former owner so they understand what they did wrong, I would. But obviously, they didn't care.

Get your bird to a vet and work out a payment plan, for your sake and the bird's.

I know you've already been told to go to a vet, and that is by far the best thing to do in this situation... but if that fails and you really can't work out a payment plan, please consider taking it to a bird rescue center. These places are filled with people who are passionate for birds and their wellbeing and I know they can get your bird the help it needs. Please don't wait or your bird could end up in serious trouble. It needs medical attention asap!

Being a parrot lover, and possessing 5 parrots, I hate to declare this, yet i think of he will no longer make it lots longer. If he acts depressed, is sitting on the backside of his cage, and chewing off his physique areas, to boot as having puss in his eye r beneficial-hearth solutions that his clock is ticking. no longer many vets are Avian vets, so they don't comprehend how or what to do in such situations. Parakeets existence expectancy is only 7-10 years. sure, he remains youthful, yet i don't comprehend why u did no longer take him to the vet while u 1st observed his leg turning blue...it incredibly is a demonstration of NO oxygen attending to his extremity. In human situations we call it gangrene and the extremity gets amputated. In animals they guard it themselves. regrettably the lasting results of chewing off physique areas can, and does, deliver approximately dying. undesirable lil' fella ~(*;*)~
