I wanted to check out a question by Stephen Hawkins, didn't find it but got sucked in immediately. Answering and asking here has made me aware of how different people can be: in the extent of their kindness, meanness, intelligence or the lack of it ... need I go on? It has changed me too because I now consciously refrain from giving snappy answers. Why add to the overall misery?

I have learned quite a bit, people can be accepting & accusatory - both of those for no reason. Even the most calm of questions can lead to flat out meanness, that I don't like. But a lot of people have shared sayings & proverbs. One of my favorites is the acronym for the bible -Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth. I liked that right away. Some Buddha sayings were very enlightening - and I love to learn about every religion, they are so different, but so close to one another.
No I wouldn't say the answers and such have changed much.

It's made me do a lot more research on a variety of topics I knew a little about but got deeper into as a result of being here.

I learn more about relativity all the time.

While I knew about Big Bang I never knew a Priest was one of the proponants and postulators of that theory.

While I knew about genetics I never knew a Catholic Abbot founded and advanced that branch of the science.

I never realized that Newton and Einstein held religious views.

I most recently learned that Nikon and Canon have vastly different concepts on digital imaging technology.

I'm doing work on a technical book and find the same questions posted here 10 times each day about technical problems, which I am addressing in my book.

In the real world I'd have to pay or go to a variety of libraries and reads dozens of books to find out what I find here on a single page of posts.

Since I work part time , and am not completely literate on the computer joining yahoo has given me a chance for improving my computer understanding, Iam learning as I go tru. The answers and questions have opened a different view of the world for me, I have come to be a bit more mellow concerning my views on political stuff, Iam leaning now more to an understanding of my fellow human brothers and the world in general.I have come to see in a word ,sense is more accurate that things are not what they seem to be! Hugs.

I have learned that no matter how objective you try to look at things the majority of people are never going to try and get along. The world will never be unified and be able to agree to disagree. The answers haven't changed. I think it has done me well because seeing all of the tension between religious sects has cause me to want to research and get my hands on as many books about different religions as I possibly can so that I may continue to have compassion for others and be able to truly understand where they are coming from.

I remember one question that helped me the best. A woman more or less stated what she thought the trinity was, and how that some thing Jesus and God are the same. She made a statement on that and I thought it was a great statement. Other than that not got much out of the place.

I came here looking for the chance to learn the answers to questions I had on various religions, and was eager to help those who might have honest questions on mine. What I found here was the opposite.

I have learnt that amazingly enough... the average american is even more retarded than the average brit (or rather the average person visiting this site, largely transatlantic, is somehow stupider than the average person I meet in person, and they are fairly idiotic)...... and that there are a lot of people out there that are so retarded I'm not sure how they have survived thus far ...

... I refer of course to the Jesus-freaks.... the christian nutcases.... and of course the muslims to some extent.

I just don't understand how anyone can be so determined to believe complete nonsense in the face of reason.
They must all be completely malfunctional. There is no other explanation for it. Someone should put them out of our misery.

I have learned:

...not to take things personally.
...much about beliefs I hadn't known existed before.
...how NOT to share my own beliefs.
...that questioning my own beliefs is not a bad thing.
...that underneath it all we are all the same.

I joined Y!A to learn and share.

My Q&A's have changed because I have changed. Not for the better or worse, just different.

My mother taught me to say nothing if i can not say something nice. What I can say nice is that i was able to verify my theory that Islam does not equal terrorism and that Father K has really opened my eyes to how much the Anglican Church is like the Roman Catholic Church. Peace be with you
