I love sweet teas. I know it's bad with too much sugar. If I make 2 quarts of tea, with 1 cup of sugar, how bad it that per 8 oz?

By using pure refined sugar & unsweetened tea leaf(ves), your 2 quarts of tea has about 793 calories (774 calories from sugar!). AND, about 205 g of carbohydrates (200 g just from sugar!).

So, a 8 fl. oz. of your sweet tea contains about 100 calories & 26 g of carb.

If you just have one small glass of sweet tea, I don't think it is that bad, but if drinking the whole 2 quarts a day.............. you do the math.

1 cup of sugar has 744 calories and 200 gms of simple carbohydrates. So, if you made 2 quarts of tea, that would be 64 oz, meaning there are 8, 8 oz servings. That's 93 calories and 25 gms of carbs. In other words, it's no different that 8 oz of soda. Sorry.

Worse than if you buy some good quality stevia and use that instead of the sugar. It's a natural sweetener from south America, a tiny amount is the same as a teaspoon of sugar though so be careful to add in little bits at a time.

Oh and stevia is 0 cal, and won't raise your blood sugar at all. It's how I quit adding tons of sugar to my drinks. Shop around though as some stevia is crap, if it's bitter then the company made it poorly, I personally use powdered stevia from the "NOW" company. I find it's best

Another thing, if you go to a great tea place that sells quality looseleaf teas, they'll have great taste and not be bitter, so you'll not have need to sweeten them as much, this has also helped me cut my sugars.

Ok this isn't really the answer to your question, BUT if you are concerned, try making it with Splenda. It tastes very much like real sugar and even if it tastes a little "weird" at first, after a week or so you will actually start to prefer it.
