I would vote for a party that would review and change the benefits system so that the UK would become a less attractive destination country for asylum seekers and illegal immigrants, but at the same time would ensure that lazy Brits who abuse & leach the system would also be dealt with.
I would also like part of this plan to involve clamping down on illegal working and rounding up and fast track reviewing illegal immigrants. I would be happy for those who can make a positive contribution to our society to stay.

I'll tell you something, I don't think there are going to be mass deportations. I think there MAY be crackdowns and commons sense actions to stop making it so easy to use the system as an illegal alien so there will be attrition.

The biggest problem is the pattern however, and the fact that it grows exponentially as people come based on family ties. I would like someone who really addresses the patchwork of family reunification preferences (limit them to only spouse and minor kids) abolish automatic birthright citizenship as every EU country and Canada has done, dismantle benefits (including education) as well as jobs drawing them here, and outlaw sanctuary cities and schools that refuse to ask for ID dispite the fact that even LEGAL non-immigrant visa holders here are supposed to pay tuition.

I think those here need to be STRICTLY screened, which I think means we need a probation period long enough to do that as thoroughly as if they were applying newly from outside. I think ALL twice illegal and gang members should be deported, and I think the TPS of countries should be reevaluated, like for El Salvador, at least to the extent it keeps us from deporting the twice illegal and gang members.

I think the border needs to be secure and the visa EXIT tracking system the deadline for which has already been moved back need to be in place before anything is done to regularize those here. We need to control our immigration.

This is what I would call 'comprehensive immigration reform'.

On the other hand, that involves willingness to really look at the issue, and not just to give it lip service. Right now only Tancredo and Hunter seem to have enough concern to do that. I would vote for them, if no one better comes forward.

To ralomi - our schools and hospitals and services are already failing our own people. We can't just let every nice poor person come.

No, solely because any party which claimed they would be able to do this would be talking out of their a**e. Anyway too much emphasis is being placed on illegal immigrants in the UK. There are probably far more UK citizens who never attempt to get into work and are scrounging off the state, I've certainly come across a few in my time.

Yes I would if I could believe that the government would actually follow through. (I still remember B liar's pre election promise that the EU rebate was not negotiable).

Furthermore, 'Illegal' should refer to fraudulent assylum applicants when their lies are discovered and any legal immigrant who subsequently commits an indictable crime.

Hardly. As an EU citizen (non British I mean), I do not have the right to vote in general election, only in local one. So I don't see how I could vote for such a party, or any other party.

We shouldn't have to vote on this one it should be standard practise.

I think all immigrants should be made to feel welcome for the first three months, if they have not found work by then they should be deported.

Immigrants should not be paid any benefits unless they have worked for at least 3 years.

Illegal immigrants when caught should be deported on the first available flight.
Any one who has harboured them should be thoroughly investigated and a set fine of £5,000.

Yes I would definitely vote for someone to deport all illegal immigrants.

I dont quite understand where the girl above me is coming from - why does she think its good to have ILLEGAL immigrants. Oh well, each to their own.

But its the immigrants (even legal ones) that come to our country and scrounge off the tax-payers. Thats who I would like to see deported. And I'm not being racist, I just think if you come to our country, then you must be prepared to work and earn your place in society.

Yes i would!
I want ALL illegals deported from this country! I don't care if they've lived here for FORTY years and have 20 kids that are anchor babies, they are still criminals, and the last i heard, we do NOT reward criminal behavior!

It wouldn't solve the problem. More would just come. I personally say, let them...only make it possible for them to do it legally. Open our borders to anyone without a criminal record. Encourage them to learn English and get educated. We have illegals here with doctorates picking oranges. That's ridiculous! We have enough uneducated whites for that. Our police waste their time tracking down family-men who only want the best for their families instead of real criminals. Since when did America become so closed-minded? That's what I want to know!

Sorry...here's a better explanation. I'm not FOR illegal immigration. I'm for changing the laws so people can come legally. Illegals are causing all kinds of problems for us. If we let them come legally, they can contribute into social security, pay taxes, pay for their education, pay their medical bills, etc. As long as they are illegal, they can't do these things and will be a huge drain on our economy. So, let's let them become legal. It's the only way to solve the problem. No matter how hard we try, the border will never be closed and we will waste millions of dollars trying. Instead of seeing immigrants as problems, let's see them as possibilities.
