No harm to the priest but he is talking rubbish as it is one of the post popular tunes to walk down the isle to. My daughter is having this to walk down the aisle at her July wedding. Has he actually heard Pachebels Canon in D? Other a music could be The Grand March from Aida, The Processional from the Sound of Music and The Arrival of the Queen of Sheeba as I take it is a traditional church wedding? There are numerous others. Ours is a Roman Catholic wedding and if anything you normally find the Catholic church can be a bit sticky but certainly not in this as her Order of Service has been approved, this includes a solo of Raise Me Up. Would see the priest's point if it was recessional music as you usually wants something at a quicker pace with a bit of umph to it like the usual Purcel Trumpet Tune, Trumpet Tune Jermemiah Clarke of even Royal Fireworks music........speak to him again. I always thought the bride should walk slowly and dignified in any case. Good luck.

Pie jesu is very beautiful especially by charlotte church but sarah brightman does a good version as well and theres always the classic air on a g string which is also very beautiful. As the others have said it's your wedding and if pachebels is what you want then stick to your guns. Perhaps you can come to a comprimise by editing the song down or looping a segment or something. Hope your big day goes well and congratulations!

If that's the song you want, stick with it. That's what I'm using when I get married in May and my pastor and organist neither one had a problem with it. My sister used it in her wedding a few years ago too. What we're doing with it is having the bridesmaids and flower girls walk down during the beginning of it and then I will walk down further into the song. I'm not sure it that would make a difference or not, but you could do something like that. That way you aren't walking down to the slowest part. Good luck!

Ignore your priest! (probably not something you hear everyday!) Pachalbel's Canon is perfect for walking down the aisle to, It is such a beautiful piece of music! I walked down the aisle to it and it works perfectly, too slow my ***! If thats the music you want then tell your priest that that is the music you shall have! It your wedding, not his! Good Luck!

Tell the priest its your wedding - you can always take your wedding elsewhere.
If thats the song you have had your heart set on - then dont let anyone get in your way - its your big day and you only get to have one shot at this.!

Just go with pachelbel. It's not up to the priest to say how slow you should walk down the aisle and it's not ilke you have to walk exactly in time anyway.

are you having a march down the aisle?
I recently went to a wedding that had "Songbird" by Stevie Nicks as the wedding march - not a dry eye in the house!

First of all, it's your wedding!!! You choose the music... not your priest!
But, if you want to check out this other site, it has sooo many good songs on it for all parts of your wedding/reception.
Congrats!

I agree with your first choice. I have attended many weddings where they have used this and it worked just fine. Overrule the priest and insist on having your choice of music.
