Ppl hv different beliefs, desires, needs, social mores, cultures, traditions so they r less likely 2 live in total harmony with other groups even in a homogenous society subdivided into the various subgroups as above. So unless there is God-empowered love, it wld seem difficult but if Humans empower themselves & work towards alturistic ends, it may be possible. (Assuming only) If God does not exist, can Mankind ever do the utmost for, say, the animal kingdom by attempting to adapt the eco-system such that different species still can exist without the Rule Of The Jungle, not as predator or preys, not at different levels of the Food Chain?

If God does not exist, can mankind ever do the utmost for ... the earth? That is a good one.

To start with, altruistic ideas and other man-made laws have their origins in spiritual laws. The question then is: if there were no spiritual laws (which would be absent if there is no God), would mankind have been able to formulate altruistic and other formulas to make a heaven on earth? The answer is NO.

Don't forget that the earth was designed as a model that would be far from utopia so that it would remain a good training ground for man. There are factors inherent in this design that ensures that even if all men alive today have common parentage, those that are five feet tall would gang up against the rest. That is the design, and man by himself cannot change it.

The idea of heaven on earth without a knowledge of God's love can only achieve such a fantasy by constructing a political, economic and ideological environment that has the co-ercive and physical ability to collectivise individual thought and indvidual freedom into one ideology or belief system. It's called Catholicism.
The problem with this fantasy is that no-one can agree on what the word 'love' means. In AMerica, some Christians believe they are 'loving' their neighbour by intervening in Iraq with a physical force but in the process thousands of innocent men, women and children have been brutalised. Is this an example of how we go about establishing heaven on earth? What do you think previous civilisations were trying to do, across milleniums, when they wiped out 'rogue elements' among their neighbours so as to control them with their ideology? This is where wars come from.
If this is an example of socialism, a pragmatic approach to establishing a global society of equality, justice and truth, you can keep it away from me. It stinks.
The SOR that the government have made statute this week also STINKS.
The idea that a small group of people with particular sexual interests can impose their lifestyle on the conscience of other people is yet another small step toward collectivisation of thought and it is VIOLENT, SELFISH and CRUDE. A philosophy that relies on regulation as a crutch to prop up its ideas and then on the executive arm of the law to physically restrain people who don't agree is a philosophy of neo-fascism. A bankrupt and shallow philosophy always needs the law to make it work and it ALWAYS resorts to VIOLENCE.
A Godless Heaven on Earth? Jesus prophesied it would be Hell. I think He IS right. Very very right.

The only people that I know of who think there will be a "Heaven" on earth are Watchtower Witnesses.

Such a belief does NOT come from the Bible but from some publishers who are in the business of deceiving others.

As for your question, I wonder if you have thought it through to its logical conclusion. I'm 58 and find that I have no desire to remain in this body for eternity. God IS and there is no way that I want to assume that He doesn't. I have read His Word from cover-to-cover many times and I look forward to spending eternity with Him. I do not know where Heaven is but I know that it is NOT here on this earth. Mankind can not bring it about. Just look at all of the new problems that arise with all of life improvements now.

If you can prove it, it's CERTAIN. If not, it's a MYTH.
Heaven is a MYTH.
God is a MYTH.
This life is CERTAIN.
Children exist - that is CERTAIN.
If everyone was full of love for each other and their environment, they would have a good future - that is CERTAIN.
So loving each other and the environment is a logical attitude and does not require the invention of a god. That is CERTAIN.
Living your life to prepare for an unprovable, MYTHical afterlife is just a waste of time, and detrimental to the future of your children and all the children of the world.

YES! it's possible. You only have to believe. I know because I have found it my self. The answer is that we all are one-no matter your race or color. Someday all will know that it's true.
My prayer is that all can receive the peace that is beyond all human understanding.
